Our Raft guide training programme will be held in Nepal, this will be a full expedition multi day course.
Over two weeks you will cover three hundred river miles on the Sun Kosi, Tamur, Bhote Koshi and the Balephi Khola rivers. You will be taught advanced guiding techniques, flotilla control, oar boat rafting, advanced outdoor instruction and environmental leadership combined with Rescue 3 White Water Safety and Rescue Technician. This amazing trip guarantee's to give you the best possible all round training environment to progress your career as a river guide.
The course begins on the dynamic rivers of Nepal, over a ten day period participants will explore Himalayan hydrology, river running, risk assessment, navigation and rescue techniques. Evening fireside discussions include talks on geography, environment and Nepali and world wide river livelihood trends. Following the comprehensive river training, participants will then have the opportunity to be assessed gain certification in Rescue 3 and BCU as required.
This is an ideal opportunity for raft guides who are looking to progress their experience and gain qualifications. Topics included will cover, Level 1 Raft Guide Training, Level 2 Assessments, Level 3 Training and Assessments.
Raft Guide Training - BCU

BCU Raft Guide Training Scheme.
On this trip you will also be able to gain BCU training and qualifications. The BCU Raft Guide scheme is a nationally recognised award scheme for guiding commercial rafts. Entry into the Raft Guide scheme is at Level 1 (site-specific) with progression through the scheme up to the Level 5 Award.
Both Level 1 Training courses and Level 1 Assessments are available on the trip. Assessments are also available for guides who are working towards their Level 2 or Level 3 Awards.
Level 1 raft Guide Training Course.
This is a three day training course that is suitable for candidates with little or no white water experience. Although the course is mainly river-based it also includes some flat-water and dry-land training, as well as theory sessions.
Course Details
River skills using paddle rafts - River dynamics - River safety and rescue - Raft design, maintenance - Client care and Duty of Care - Manual handling - Incident management.
Pre-requisites:
Minimum age 16 years old - Comprehensive member of CW/BCU/CANI/SCA - Stamped C1 form
Level 1 Raft Guide Assessment
The assessment is one-day, comprising of a normal rafting session and a safety & rescue session. Pre-requisites: Minimum age - 18 yrs -Level 1 Training (within last 3 years) - Current First Aid Certificate (min 8hrs) - Central registration - Minimum of 10 logged trips since training.

LEVEL 2 RAFT GUIDE ASSESSMENT
There is no training course for the Level 2 Award, it is an unrestricted version of the Level 1 Award (so you can guide on other rivers). We can organise Level 2 Raft Guide assessments on request.
Pre-requsites:
-Whitewater Rescue Technician
-Signed off on 3 suitable rivers*
* of the 3 rivers only one may be an artificial whitewater course and one must be a grade 4 river.
LEVEL 3 RAFT GUIDE TRAINING/ASSESSMENT
This award is designed for the guide who has been a Level 2 Raft Guide for a minimum of 2 years and who is looking to lead trips of more than one boat on river trips or sessions.
The course will be run as one or more river trips (ideally either full day or half-day trips), and will include an overnight bivvy.
